Countries have a language.

The language of business is….

When asked, 90% of business owners will say ‘sales and marketing’.

And they’d be dead wrong.

The language of business is…

And this is according to Warren Buffett, Ray Dalio and other ethical, rock star, billionaires…

… ACCOUNTING.

Not lightweight accounting like ‘debits and credits’… accounting, as in being able read and understand basic numbers that drive a business profitably.

The same way a doctor can read blood tests and an MRI.

A good business coach should be able to look at a set of basic financial documents… diagnose the problem and have a firm grasp of the solution.

If you’ve ever watched ‘The Profit’ you’ve seen Marcus Lemonis do this.

Therefore… and in simple English.

Accounting is the process of turning business activities into numbers on a financial document.

Business Analysis is the process of converting the numbers on the financial document into words..

…  Those words back into improved activities.

Change the activities… change the numbers.

Translation: Improve the activities… and you’ll improve the numbers.
