Yesterday I was explaining how drowning rats relate to you getting new coaching clients, as well as how My Drunk Aunt said being kissed while you’re asleep is one of the purest forms of love.

Dave’s in trouble again, and here’s our conversation:

Me: Why so glum?

Dangerous Dave: My girlfriend is mad at me again.

Me: What happened?

Dangerous Dave: She asked me “what’s on TV”

Me: And?

Dangerous Dave: I said, “dust”

Ever notice that people that tell you they really know their worth aren’t worth very much?

Anyhoo…

Your one PROFIT ACCELERATION THING today is:

‘Repeat Business’

90% of businesses fail for a reason.

Many businesses are broken before they start.

When I get asked:

“KB, will this idea work…?”

“KB, will this idea make money..?”

I immediately ask 2 questions:

  1. Where will the repeat sales and recurring revenue come from?
  2. Refer to question 1.

I would NEVER become a traditional style realtor…

… no repeat sales.

Maybe an example from our own Coaching world:

Grief Coach…

Their goal is to get you OUT OF GRIEF. The better you get at it the quicker that happens.

Translation: The quicker that happens, the quicker you LOSE THE CLIENT and then need to go find a new one.

Double translation: That’s a breathtakingly bad business model.

Career Coach…

Get your client the promotion / raise / job. The better you get at it the quicker it happens.

Translation: The quicker that happens, the quicker you LOSE THE CLIENT and then need to find a new one.

Please stop it…

… it’s embarrassing.

The most expensive function of any business is attracting and getting new clients.

Solution:

You and your clients should build a business with recurring revenue and predictable / sustainable repeat sales.

Repeat business equals profit.

Examples:

I’d give you the printer to sell you the cartridges.

I’d give you the coffee maker to sell you the coffee.

I’d give you the keg to sell you the beer.

I’d give you the phone to sell you the phone plan.

I’d give you the razor to sell you the razor blades.

I’d give you the dog to sell you the dog food.

I’d give you a month for free to sell you the 12-month lease.

Use your imagination for endless examples.

The average business is trying to make as much money as possible on the dog, coffee maker, printer etc.

They don’t realize where the real value is.

Of course, you don’t need to do it all for free, but it’s for dramatic impact to show you the extreme level I’d go to lock in repeat sales.

There’s a really, really, really good chance your prospective high-end coaching client has this all arse backwards.

Many do.
