Yesterday I was explaining how the work is insane but so is the payoff as well as how I need to watch a movie with a plot twist that’ll have me in disbelief for days.

‘Tribe of Mentors’

Here are seven highlights I found on Facebook from Tim Ferriss in his iconic book Tribe of Mentors.

1. Happiness is about understanding that the gift of life should be honored every day by offering your gifts to the world. Don’t let yourself define what matters by the dogma of other people’s thoughts.

2. It will be tempting to live a life that impresses others. But this is the wrong path. The right path is to know that life is short, every day is a gift, and you have certain gifts.

3. It’s almost more difficult to think of a time when an apparent failure didn’t set me up for later success. Failure is inextricably connected to any major success I’ve ever had.

…When you feel you can’t go on, know that you’re just getting started.

4. Ignore any advice that tells you you are going to miss something.

Every mistake I have ever made in business, marriage, and personal conduct was because I thought if I didn’t do or get this now, it was never going to happen.

5. Suffering is a moment of clarity, when you can no longer deny the truth of a situation and are forced into uncomfortable change.

Do everything you were going to do, but with less angst, less suffering, less emotion. Everything takes time.

Ignore: The news. Complainers, angry people, high-conflict people. Anyone trying to scare you about a danger that isn’t clear and present.

6. The Deathbed Test pushes me to do two things: Make sure I’m dedicating my time to the right people with the question, “Is this someone I might be thinking about when I’m on my deathbed?”

7. Life punishes the vague wish and rewards the specific ask. After all, conscious thinking is largely asking and answering questions in your own head.

If you want confusion and heartache, ask vague questions. If you want uncommon clarity and results, ask uncommonly clear questions.
