‘EBITDA’
This is something you should understand as a business coach… it can be confusing for some so I’ll explain it the way I would to my 11 year old daughter.
EBITDA stands for ‘earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.’
Why is it important?
It gives you a good indication of how much money a business is generating from its general operations.
How is it calculated?
You start with the company’s revenues and subtract their cost of goods sold to get to gross margin.
Then take their gross margin and subtract its operating expenses like accounting, legal, salaries, marketing, office supplies, rent etc…
In essence…
It’s a scorecard that tells you how profitable a company is.
You heard it here first.
