Day 1224: War. Zone. Marketing.

Last week, we covered a lot of ground, including, “When you ask a ten-year-old if they can play the guitar, they’ll answer “not sure, I’ve never tried”… ask an adult, and they’ll say “no I can’t play the guitar I don’t have a musical bone in my body” as well as how 11-year-old Dick told Dave he was worried about his privacy.
Speaking of Dave telling him, when I was a kid, they mailed everyone a giant book with everyone’s full name, address, and phone number…
Dave wants to take his girlfriend on a holiday and here’s how it’s going:
Me: You decided where to go on vacation?
Dangerous Dave: Well, I thought we should have some fun with it.
Me: What did you do?
Dangerous Dave: I gave my girlfriend a dart, pointed her towards a world map and said, “Throw this and wherever it lands I’ll take you there .”
Me: Cool, where you going?
Dangerous Dave: Looks like we’re spending two weeks behind the fridge.

You thought it was trying to drown you but it was actually teaching you to swim.

Your one PROFIT ACCELERATION THING today is:
‘Business is a War Zone’
If you were placed in charge of fighting in a war zone…
… And you saw the war zone as ‘one big battlefield,’ you’re about to lose badly, and your boys are going home in body bags.
If you want to be a war hero like George S. Patton… you’d break the large warzone up into dozens of smaller battlefields.
Research the terrain of each battleground, find the high ground and choose battles you can win with the resources at hand.
Translation: Go pick a small marketing battlefield today and go win yourself some territory.
Can you give me an example, I hear you ask?
Research FB groups and choose a single FB group with your ideal clients.
One you can really impact.
Make 25 educational comments of value to those in the group… and those that engage, keep the conversation flowing.
Goal is to create 3 warm conversations to HELP (not sell).
Keep penetrating that group with your magic until you’re seen as a valued member and people start asking for your direction.
An offline example of this strategy is going to a networking group and seeing it as a small battleground you can win.
Expect to find lots of ‘lightweight businesses’ but you’ll also find some excellent clients there.
Don’t go once and expect to get anywhere.
You need to penetrate that group with VALUE until you become the go to person when someone has a question.
That can happen very quickly.
