Yesterday I explained how Warren Buffett says ‘there’s a perverse human characteristic that likes to make things difficult’ as well as what Trish told me to say to her 11-year-old daughter when she asked her how taxes work.

Speaking of Trish’s reply, to demonstrate, I gave her a box of Smarties and said she has to give me some. I know how much, but she has to guess and if she’s wrong, she goes to prison…

I was speaking with Dave’s Girlfriend and here’s how our conversation went:

Dave’s Girlfriend: I feel like I’ve been using negative language and negative self-talk lately.

Me: Great observation, if you change your language… you’ll change your life.

Dave’s Girlfriend: Give me an example.

Me: Replace the word PROBLEM with OPPORTUNITY.

Dave’s Girlfriend: *slight pause*

Dave’s Girlfriend: Dave has a massive drinking opportunity?

Me:

But systems do not set you free…

… Systems stifle creativity.

Successful businesses are built by intelligent people who hire intelligent people to use their creativity.

The ‘Influencer’ on your FB feed is a salesperson… not a legit business owner with staff and a real business.

Zuckerberg, Blakely, Gates, Dell, Musk, Buffett, Dalio and Sheryl Sandberg aren’t clogging up your FB feed.

What do these folks have in common?

They’re insanely intelligent people who hired even more intelligent people and subsequently built great companies.

Don’t give intelligent people too regimented of systems to follow.

They’ll leave.

16-year-olds flipping burgers at McDonald’s are different.

Here it is in a single sentence for you:

‘Large successful companies are built by intelligent people and intelligent people want to use their intelligence in a creative way.’

Let them.

You heard it here first.
