Day 1479: Survival. Defense. Opportunities.

Yesterday I gave you some personal coaching notes, including how your description of Los Angeles (your end goal) shouldn’t be confused with your roadmap to Los Angeles as well as how The Pope was handing out miracles and Dave asked him for help with his hearing.

Speaking of The Pope placing his hands on Dave’s ears, praying and then asking how is your hearing now with Dave replying, I don’t know, it’s not until next Tuesday…

I was speaking with My Drunk Aunt and here’s how our conversation went:

Me: What are all those notes you’re taking?

My Drunk Aunt: I’m starting a restaurant… just formulating my plan.

Me: What kind of food?

My Drunk Aunt: My restaurant will fuse Chinese and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Me: Interesting. What will you call it?

My Drunk Aunt: Wok Like an Egyptian.

Me:

Businesses go through seasons (spring follows winter).

Here’s what the elite businesses do during TOUGH seasons.

1. Survival: They’re vulnerable and don’t want to get knocked out by the big punch.

2. Defense first: Think of what can go wrong and DON’T LOSE CLIENTS.

3. One eye on opportunities: Opportunities will emerge, but they’re secondary to 1 and 2 during the tough season.

When I started playing hockey at the level where you could fight… I used these same three steps as my fight plan.

I never got out of number one (survival)… and the closest thing I could find to number three (opportunity) was an ice pack.

Carry On.

Tell the others.

Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
