Day 152: Easily Selling Yourself

​Yesterday I was explaining about a part of your coaching client’s business that’s very misunderstood and when ignored sends them broke.

I also told you about getting beat up by a former boxer with short arms.

Not my finest moment.

Anyhoo…

Your ONE COACHING THING today is:

“Your IDENTITY.”

When it comes to achieving success in anything… the inside is more important than the outside.

As in, what’s between your ears.

Why are some business coaches mentally tough and others hide like an ostrich with their head in the sand?

Because they haven’t developed their:

IDENTITY.

Ever heard this “I’m a great coach but I’m no good at selling myself.”

Moving the needle here is the ‘inside work.’

So, if you and your coaching clients are going to be hunkered down for a month…. A GREAT place to improve is:

IDENTITY.

I used to play and coach hockey.

One of the kids I coached won a Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals 2 years ago.

He got an assist on the only goal his team scored in regulation time when they beat the defending champion, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the number one player in the world, Sidney Crosby.

When you play hockey scoring a goal is a huge highlight….

But the players that get the most assists are the best players.

When I coached hockey the award I placed the most emphasis on was… “most assists.”

In fact, I had never seen the award “most assists” in my entire life… I just knew it had to be the focus if we were going to be a winning team.

Every single game when I looked at the score sheet, win or lose, I called out the assists in that game.

My guys got excited to hear their name called out in the dressing room.

Guys that moved from other teams would become far better, with us, at moving the puck to their teammates.

I intentionally created a culture where players on my team had an IDENTITY of being great passers.

We call them playmakers in hockey.

I won multiple National Championships.

Back to you and your IDENTITY as a business coach.

You come into my world and you start to identify as a rock star business coach.
