One Thing: Day 60: Your Coaching Delusion and Seduction
Day 60: Your Coaching Delusion and Seduction
Yesterday I was talking about how I drowned my “GUT” and am forever grateful.
Similar to how a football team punts on 4th and 1 but the quarterback is desperate to go for it.
There’s a reason the level headed coach makes these decisions and not the quarterback hung up in the emotion of the game.
And yes the trick play worked that one time and was amazing. It worked because the coach chose to punt 127 times in a row.
Your business and finances need the level headed one calling the shots.
Anyhoo…
The number of responses and feedback from you dictates I need to further reinforce explain where I think a lot of this comes from.
Your ONE THING today
It comes from the name of the books we buy (but don’t read).
Your ONE THING today is to avoid the seductive but delusional titles the authors use to reel you in and screw-up your subconscious mind.
Some examples:
Go With Your Gut. You already know how I feel on this one… Gave Up Thinking.
The 4 Hour Workweek. Ya, right… Great book that has nothing to do with sitting on the couch all week while getting paid… but that’s what people take away when they read the cover and NOT the book.
The Secret. The only secret is that there is no secret. ‘Work your arse off and then work some more’ wouldn’t have sold quite as well.
High Ticket Sales. How is that working out for your realtor buddy? High-profit margins would make a little more sense and repeat sales trump high ticket 90% of the time. No repeat sales, no business. And yes, a BIG number (high ticket) is MUCH better than a small number on average.
Work-Life Balance. Do I even need to… It doesn’t work for you and it’s not going to work out for me either. Delusion. ‘Integrate your life’ makes a wee bit more sense for you and for your clients.
Multiple Streams of Income. Well according to Jeff Bezos, Sam Walton, Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and a short handsome guy with no belly button ONE stream of income you watch INSANELY CLOSELY might be a smarter plan but hey, what do they know.
More examples
*The best bit of advice I ever read in a book was “Go away for 6 months and if you come back and have more money than when you left… you own a business.” I won’t mention any names, Michael Gerber E-Myth cough cough, but umm… a business needs a present, inspirational and active LEADER isn’t quite as sexy but slightly better advice to follow.
Seize Opportunity. There are no shortage of opportunities to make money. There are FAR TOO many opportunities to LOSE IT ALL IN ONE-SHOT. Please consistently punt.
Big Changes. According to Las Vegas small percentage bets, in multiple areas, might work out better for you. Hullo Bellagio.
Obviously all of these need a little TLC to explain further but I hope you get the idea of how people get suckered into thinking “The 4 Hour Workweek” is the goal.
The folks planning to ‘do nothing and lye on the beach one day in retirement” are exactly the folks that will NEVER be able to “do nothing and lye on the beach.”
These seductive titles but delusional concepts are doing you and the clients you’re coaching NO FAVORS.
Rabidly protect your subconscious mind and hammer REAL concepts home, not delusion.
Here are some of my sayings that as book titles won’t work well but a million times more helpful for your subconscious mind.
No need to test them cause they’re not delusional enough.
“When you motivate an idiot… they do stupid things quicker.” (Business owner takes on more products and services. Reason: they can’t sell the existing products and services they have… end up with more headaches and inventory to mess up their balance sheet)
“Everyone hates advertising until they need to sell their own car.” (Advertising to profit is a superpower.)
“Hard work gives birth to profitable ideas.”
“You can get lucky and make it… you can’t get lucky and KEEP IT.”
“The harder you work the harder it is to give up.”
You heard it here first.
That’s it for “Gut” tomorrow how to close a $24,000 for a $500 sale is coming your way.
Sorry for the delay on that one but the tribe spoke and your Gut appears to be an attraction like the little hottie hooking up with the bad boy in high school.
She should have punted.
Obsessed with your business coaching success,
Karl Bryan aka King Karl
PS. Michael Gerber of the E-Myth has never built a business. He wrote a book about it.
Carry On.
