Day 627: Goal. Desire. Twinkie

Yesterday I was explaining how my daughter talks to a rich baby and how my wife was angry that the 20 something neighbor was in the backyard sunbathing nude on Fathers’ Day.

Personally, I was on the fence.

Speaking of my wife not speaking to me…

I asked my daughter if she’d seen my newspaper.

She told me newspapers are old school.

Said that people use tablets nowadays and handed me her iPad.

That fly didn’t stand a chance.

In other news…

Don’t offer a lecture to someone that just needs a hug.

Anyhoo…

Your One PROFIT ACCELERATION THING Today Is:

‘Goal VS Desire’

When you’re helping your client accomplish their big picture goal… be sure to establish a line between goal and desire.

They can badly mess with each other.

Example:

Your client’s goal might be 180 pounds but their (gender neutral, cough cough) desire is a Twinkie.

Your client’s goal might be peak fitness but their desire is a cigarette (still a thing?)

Your client’s goal might be marriage but their desire is beer with their buddies 5 nights a week.

Your client’s goal might be wealth but their desire is the expensive boat

Your client’s goal might be business success but their desire is sitting at the coffee shop.

Your kid’s goal is professional baseball but his desire is the Ipad.

Your clients goal might be a sales team but their desire is to ‘do it themselves’.

Your clients goal might be to provide leadership but their desire is to micromanage.

Decide what you really want in life by aligning your desires and your goals.

Here it is in a single sentence for you:

‘Big goals will likely require new desires.’

You heard it here first.

A consultant in your network might need to read this today…

… forward it to them.

Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
