‘Business Relationships 3.0’
Truthfully, I don’t even really know what Business Relationships 2.0 is…
… Is that a thing?
What I do know is that people generally, suck at building new business
relationships.
My favorite private Facebook message is when a guy abuses me for not replying to
a message I never engaged in or asked for.
Here are smart and interesting ways people have gotten conversations started (subsequently free help) with me:
– Engaged with my favorite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs (specifically works best during playoffs when I’m most in tune)
– Engaged with me about my family holiday
– Started a conversation around craft beers and Caribbean rum
– Made a pen, mouse pad, and journal with my company logo on it… got my address, and sent it to me
– Bought a copy of my book and sent it back to me with notes they took in each of the chapters
– Engaged with me during my favorite TV show (Billions) as it neared the end of a season
– Worked out my favorite little bar and offered to take me while they were in town
– And the QUICKEST AND EASIEST way to my heart is to send me jokes and noted
how they’d work well for the opening of my daily emails
– Many, many other smart thoughtful strategies…
*No, I’m not looking for personal messages… PLEASE DON’T lol
The above takes effort/care/focus, but if you nail down who you’re IDEAL
CLIENTS are you’ll get so much further, faster.
Here it is in a single sentence for you:
‘The fact that you need a client is not a great reason to message (bother) me.’
You heard it here first.
A consultant in your network might need to read this today…
… forward it to them.
Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
