Drunk Aunt: The best revenge is living well, so I will be attempting whatever the second best revenge is.

Me: Fair enough.

“Zero to One”

Companies generally think of innovation as to an eimproved version of Facebook / Microsoft / CRM to fine-tune and optimize existing lines of business.

To make something better.

That’s not innovation… that’s ‘globalization’ which is basically going from one to many.

Good but far from GREAT.

According to Peter Theil, the original investor in Facebook, true innovation means going from Zero to One.

Create new, different and possibly strange things that have never been done before.

The world doesn’t need another Sushi restaurant.

In the words of Peter Thiel:

“The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won’t make a search engine. And the next Mark Zuckerberg won’t create a social network.

If you’ are copying these guys, you aren’t learning from them.

Doing what we already know takes the world from 1 to n, adding more of something similar.

But every time we create something new, we go from 0 to 1.

Unless they invest in the difficult task of creating new things, American companies will fail in the future no matter how big their profits remain today.”

Intelligent people come up with great statements.

Geniuses come up with great questions.
