If you want to get someone to do something… here is what to do:
1. Tell them why you want it done and the benefit you’ll get out of it.
2. Tell them the time frame it needs to be completed in.
3. Tell them it needs a capable, action-orientated person and that’s why you’ve chosen them.
4. Help them understand why they want to do it and the benefit to them.
5. Help them understand their immediate reward.
6. Help them understand the long-term benefit of completing it.
7. Help them understand the negative thing they can avoid by completing it.
8. Help them understand the negatives of it not being completed.
You heard it here first.
Now, pick up the phone and go help someone.
