‘Rationalizing’

If I hold you underwater for 60 seconds, you don’t come up and take a normal breath, you gasp.

Couple days ago, I said this and created some action for myself :o)

I often take ten kids to the park at once, a blast for me and gives other parents a break on the weekend.

What one of the parents says he’ll do for his daughter:

1. Step in front of a bus.

2. Take a bu11et.

What the same parent has demonstrated he will not do for his daughter:

1. Take her to the park.

2. Practice volleyball so she can make the team..

Gives me very little confidence in the whole bus / bu11et thing in the event it’s required.

*Genuinely no judgement but guessing you recognize this dynamic.

Judgement is what I wanna talk about with you.

Playing pro hockey, you have guys that go on to make incredible sums, and you have guys that end up in ‘less desirable situations.’

Truthfully… it’s ‘luck and timing’ in many cases and can be torture for those left behind.

People are not rational, they are rationalizing.

All behavior within a system (think foster care system) makes perfect sense with ENOUGH INFORMATION.

Same with mon3y.

One person buys a fancy car.

The other hoards incredible amounts of c4sh…

…  But won’t take his wife and kids on a 3-day vacation cause ‘we can’t afford it.’.

Sounds crazy.

Until you realize with enough information, the behavior makes perfect sense.

Everyone driving slower than you is an idiot and everyone driving faster than you is a maniac.

Sound familiar?

Robert Quillan said the more you were snubbed while poor, the more you enjoy showing off when wealthy.

Like someone spending their Xmas bonus…

…they do it subconsciously to prove to themselves the 2 a.m. nights were worth it.

Or a kid from a loving home can try coc4ine and not bat an eyelid.

A kid from a dysfunctional home with unloving parents does the same and ends up with a 20-year habit.
