My Drunk Aunt was bartending last night when she struck up a conversation with the guy sitting at the bar, here’s how it went:
My Drunk Aunt: So what do you do?
Guy: I’m in the military.
My Drunk Aunt: I served two years.
Guy: Where?
My Drunk Aunt: Well it was for bank fraud… not the actual military. Actually I did serve in the Army for awhile… but it was the Salvation Army. I was dishonorably discharged. Then I was with the Navy. Old Navy, so I folded sweaters at the mall. People mock me and say I haven’t seen combat… but I was married twice. Look… I do my part, I killed two terrorists last week. Well, on my son’s Xbox but I think that helps..?

Yesterday I gave you a killer pricing hack and today we’ll do something similar for your clients who send proposals / quotes.
Randy Garner did an experiment where he sent out surveys to be completed with three different approaches:
1) Handwritten on a cover letter.
2) A standard request letter
3) A handwritten request on a Post-it-Note attached to the survey
What happened?
1) Handwritten cover letter: 48%
2) Standard letter: 36%
3) Post-it-note: 76%
Translation: The small personalized gesture creates a “reciprocity effect” and creates feelings of obligation to respond.
With personalized Post-It-Note… doubled the response.
How can you and your clients send out info with a personalized Post-it-Note so you too can double responses?
