Day 339: Tom Brady (sorry)

Yesterday I sent you the eulogy that I wrote and delivered for my beautiful Momma and also the 4 instructions Bezos gave his, soon to be, new CEO, Andy Jassy.

Speaking of instructions for Andy Jassy…

Andy recently started CrossFit and the primary requirement is that he notify everyone he knows, on social media and otherwise, that he has now started Crossfit.

Let’s hope he doesn’t go Vegan.

In other news…

When I was 20 years old I scored a job working with lots of women, that I didn’t know, but, doing something very personal with them…

It looked like this:

Me: “OK is it in?”

Hot woman: “Yea”

Me: “Does it hurt?”

Hot Woman: “Uh huh”

Me: “Let me put it in slowly”

Hot Woman: “It still hurts”

Me: “OK, I’ll grab another shoe size”

Anyhoo…

‘A True Tom Brady Story’

For the haters sick of hearing about him…

I genuinely apologize, cause I think I’m sick of his name today too, but I encourage you to give this a read.

If you listen to my podcast (if you don’t, get with the program, it’s the number one podcast for business coaches) you know I’m a big Tom Brady fan.

Not a Patriots fan or a Bucs fan per se, just a Brady fan and his approach to training.

This is a story from Jesse Itzler who owned a horse with Tom Brady.

Years ago, I bought into a horse with a bunch of friends. It was a one-time thing we did strictly for fun. 

Tom Brady was part of the group. We named the horse “GUTS.”

Anyway, the horse came in 2nd in its first 3 races (which is absolutely AMAZING) and we were convinced we had something special.

Right after the next race, I called TB to give him the results from the track. I said:

“Great news… Guts came in second again!” 

The phone went silent.

Finally, after a long break Tom said:

“This is terrible”

I said “Terrible?  There were like 10 other quality horses and we came in second.”

Brady said:

“Jesse, this horse needs to understand what it’s like to win.”

I said “Tom… it’s a horse.”

He said:

“It doesn’t matter what it is.”

Also, worth noting…

Tom Brady didn’t make his school’s 0 – 8 JV football team.

He was 7th on the depth chart when he arrived at Michigan.

198 players were taken before him in the draft.

He was 4th on the depth chart when he joined the Patriots.

Most 4th string QB’s don’t dress for a single game… let alone start one.

MAYBE, JUST MAYBE….

You are your city’s next GREAT BUSINESS COACH and you just don’t know it yet.

Lotsa blood sweat and tears ahead…

But maybe it’s YOU they’ll be talking about with ‘GREAT’ before your name, soon?
