One Thing: Day 115: Kobe, Marry Me

Day 115: Kobe, Marry Me

Yesterday I was talking about how Burton snowboards built the sport of snowboarding while also creating a business worth $100 million.

The secret?

Say two words out loud and help your coaching clients do the exact same:

LASER FOCUS.

Remarkably and despite me saying I don’t want to hear it, I got more feedback regarding my thoughts on Kobe LOL.

My opinion and respect for him are not changing no matter how long of an email or how many links you send me.

And, of course, the other lives mattered especially those kids.

My heart BREAKS for them.

Reality is, whether you like it or not, when an adult dies the reaction is in direct proportion to the impact they had on the world.

Kobe

Good and bad.

Kobe had a heck of an impact and that’s what you’re witnessing.

His funeral is going to be held in an 80,000 seat stadium!?!

John Altobelli had a 25-year impact on Orange Coast College Baseball and I don’t need to be on campus to know it’s a horrific scene and he’s missed there dearly.

He didn’t impact the world and therefore at the next College, outside of the baseball community, it’s already business as usual.

Gotta move along, but just to annoy those hating on my boy Kobe…. I’ve decided (realized) I had a mad crush on Kobe.

He was my soul mate and now we’ve both lost that chance at our everlasting romance. I’m super confident he yearned for me also.

Anyhoo…

OK, this is, sadly, a true and not uncommon story.

My friend spent about $30,000 to get a degree in business.

He graduated… and couldn’t find a job?!

Ummm, OK.

Then (used his GUT and Gave Up Thinking) decided to go back to school, spend another $50,000 and committed years of his life to get his Ph.D. so he can teach others getting a business degree.

I only wish I was joking.

University is like a pyramid scheme in many ways.

He would have been better off to buy a few books for $100 on sales, business, and mindset.

Then do door to door sales as training for the real business world.

Like most self-made multi-millionaires.

You heard it here first.

There might be some solid advice in there for your kids / grandkids?

PS. A guy meets a sex worker and she says “It’s your lucky night… I’ll do anything you want for $300 as long as you can say it in 3 words.”

“Hey, why not…” the guy responds.

He puts $300 down on the bed and says:

“Paint. My. House.”

PPS. They tell me my Podcast is Ric Flair style, Money Makin’, Client Gettin’, Joint Venture Landing, Event Fillin’, High-End Coaching Client Findin’ Gold For Business Coaches.
